El Abasto Malbec - 23rd
A savoury and ripe red from La Agricola Winery set up by Alberto Zuccardi in 1963 and located at Maipu in Argentina's Mendoza Valley. Today the company is run by Alberto's son, Jose-Alberto who has transformed the business into one of the leading producers in South America. The El Abasto ('The Supply) range is designed to introduce consumers to the Company's more approachable and interesting wines.
A dark cherry-red in the glass. On the nose, notes of summer red fruits, coffee and bitter chocolate. On the palate, medium-bodied and savoury with a smooth texture leading to a lingering finish. Good food wine with shin of beef, duck and prune kebabs or a simple tomato and mozarella pizza.
